To make choosing a bit easier, I wanted to compare two popular email marketing platforms: Flodesk vs. Convertkit.
For context, I’m a copywriter who specializes in email marketing, which means I’ve spent a lot of time working with these two platforms. I won’t lie and say I love them both equally (I’ll tell you which is my favorite at the end), but I do believe they each have their positives…and negatives.

Convertkit is a big name in the email marketing industry and for good reason. They offer competitive pricing to other platforms, are highly reputable, and have amazing customer service (expect quick and detailed responses, not just generic help forms).

🤔 Who It’s For: Convertkit can be used with a wide range of users, from beginners to more advanced businesses. Whether you just want to send weekly emails or are running courses and memberships - Convertkit can handle it.
💸 The Price: Converkit does offer a free plan for anyone with less than 100 subscribers, but you won’t have access to all their features. For 1000 subscribers, you’re looking at $25 per month for their Creator plan and $50 for the Creator Pro.
Pricing with Convertkit increases based on the number of active subscribers you have.
💻 Key Features: Let’s take a look at some of the key features.
Formatting an email is similar to a Word Doc or Google Doc. It's easy to copy and paste emails into the platform and format them from there.
There is a range of email templates and landing page templates so that you look on-brand throughout your email marketing.
You can tag subscribers and create segments to easily target your list.
Add one team member for free to help you manage your account.
Email automations are easy to set up, and they provide lots of tutorials to help.
Their customer service is truly top-notch.
Because of its well-known status, Convertkit can integrate with several big-name platforms like Stripe, Shopify, WordPress, Teachable, SquareSpace, Woocommerce, and more.
They have a simple-to-use built-in ecommerce platform.
💯 Data: As a copywriter, something that is really important to me is data. Convertkit makes it easy to track your data by simply looking at your dashboard. You can also get detailed data about each email, sequence, form, and more.

Flodesk has also made a name for itself in the email marketing space, especially for its stunning templates and simple-to-navigate platform.

🤔 Who It’s For: Flodesk is great for those who are new to email marketing or plan on sticking to the basics. If you just want a platform that sends emails and offers automations, this might be your best option! But if you plan to target audiences, have a course or membership, or any other advanced techniques - Flodesk will make your life much harder.

💯 Data: You can view the data for each email and overall data for your segment. However, Flodesk is really lacking in the data department. You won’t get an overview of your overall data (like average open rate and click rate), and you can see data on form views. For me, this is a huge feature that is lacking.
When deciding between Flodesk vs Convertkit, I highly recommend you look beyond just the price! I see many business owners choose based on price alone - and they end up unhappy with where they landed.
